Ok, I know, I know I know, geese are NOT predators - but it's my blog and I'll do as I see fit lol
Last month I stumbled on to a pair of nesting geese in a semi secluded area and decided to "keep tabs" on them - it's like a yearly event for me to follow a pair of nesting geese, that I enjoy doing because it is so peaceful and relaxing to me. This morning while out on my normal routine walk, I decided to stroll past the nest and take a quick peek at any activity! Normally the female goose (I think) has been on the nest with the male lurking somewhere close - which is typical behavior. The female usually greets me with a hiss or 2 and then settles down and allows me to watch them (from a short distance) for a few minutes. So, when I crept up to the area where the nest is, she once again greeted me, but this time she stood up, spread her wings and allowed me to see all 5 of her eggs. The best part was she didn't seem to hesitate nor did she act a bit afraid or scared. A squirrel near by started "barking" at something (probably me) so I decided that I had spent enough time and seen enough for the day and continued my walk! It made me feel privileged because it was a chance happening to begin with, although I do have a slight regret that I was unable to get a photograph of her, the nest or the eggs YET! I didn't try to take any pictures because I chose not to disturb the geese any longer than I already had done - but I will get some photos asap! PS - still need a couple names for these geese - when the eggs hatch (if they do) I will have up to 5 babies to name :) Stay tuned...

(sorry for being so blurry, cam is not co-operating today) I am going to keep track of this goose through out the year as best as possible, and it's mate (if ever I see it again that is). Last year I kept track of a set of nesting geese and thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it!So, on your marks... get set... go!!
About 2 years ago I learned of the planned trapping and capture of a certain wolf - Guardian M1396 - in New Mexico! So I took it upon myself to fight this decision to no end. I created several petitions on several online petition sites, as well as personally made phone calls & letters & emails to Dr. Benjamin Tuggle, Regional Director at [email protected] but never ONCE did I get any type of response, other than the following from 1 of the petition sites #17 months ago: "Sad to say despite all our efforts to prevent it, Wolf M1396 was trapped and captured on May 24, 2016 so we are closing this petition - thank you for all who cared enough to sign this! Blessings..." But I did NOT give up. about a year ago I started over and created a NEW petition with MUCH more exposure: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/828/364/049/ This email is in regards to a petition I initiated a few months ago in an attempt to get Guardian M1396 released back to his mate and pups! There are over 72,000 signatures on it as we speak! It has been featured on several news broadcasts within the Albuquerque, New Mexico area. Please find the url link to the petition itself and the url to the pdf containing the signatures at the bottom! We are trying to get some more exposure for this matter and get this wolf returned to his pack! I think our past actions of spending taxpayer funds to eradicate wolves is shameful. The reintroduction program is an important step to right that wrong, but only if wolves are allowed to live freely across wild federal lands of the Southeast. Guardian needs to be returned to his pack. Without their alpha, the Luna group is at risk." PETITION - http://www.thepetitionsite.com/828/364/049/ SIGNATURES - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwAQ6aWAP8k6MHBZUUZCUWlDX3c/view Sincerely, Douglas W. Lopes Rockford, Il 61102 (779) 324-3717 For The Love Of Wolves@gmail.com FOR THE LOVE OF WOLVES www.facebook.com/xxftlowxx The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service recently removed Guardian (wolf M1396) from his mate and pups in the Gila National Forest in New Mexico. Guardian is the alpha of the Luna group, and his loss threatens the progress of the Mexican gray wolf recovery program, which was just starting to see some gains. With as few as 97 Mexican wolves in the wild, it's hard to see why Guardian was trapped and removed from the wild simply for killing livestock to feed his starving pups and mate. Ranchers in the area share much of the blame for the loss of their animals, as they were not removing carcasses that wolves did not kill, which led to scavenging, which led to depredation. Sign the petition and urge the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service to release Guardian back into the wild immediately to help his pack and the overall population survive! When you removed Guardian (wolf M1396) from his mate and pups you threatened the progress of the Mexican grey wolf recovery program, which was just starting to see some gains. BUT, still no reply from Dr. Tuggle! I am planning a 3rd attempt at this because that is how dedicated I am to this wolf and his freedom - he MUST be returned to the Luna wolf pack in New Mexico - that is if he has NOT already been killed, which is very possible! So I am begging ALL OF YOU WOLF LOVERS for support on this! I will continue to work on a brand new petition to publish by this weekend (HOPEFULLY)! Godbless! Guardian - I REFUSE TO GIVE UP ON YOU! CAN I COUNT ON YOUR SUPPORT TOO?
I don't care if:
IF YOU CAUSE HARM TO OUR WOLVES OR ANY OTHER WILDLIFE INCLUDING THEIR HABITATS, LEGALLY OR ILLEGALLY YOU WILL NOT LIKE ME! I WILL DO WHAT EVER I LEGALLY CAN TO EXPOSE YOU AND SEEK JUSTICE FOR THE ANIMALS AT ALL COSTS! THIS INCLUDES THOSE WHOM CONTINUE TO CREATE NEW OR REMAKE OLD BILLS/LAWS THAT AFFECT OR THREATEN OUR WOLVES AND OTHER WILDLIFE IN ANY NEGATIVE WAY! ESPECIALLY ENDANGERED/THREATENED SPECIES! KILLING OUR WILDLIFE WILL NOT SOLVE ANY PROBLEMS! ANY INVOLVEMENT IN SUCH NO MATTER HOW GREAT OR SMALL MAKES YOU JUST AS GUILTY IN MY BOOK! It is not for you or me or ANYBODY ELSE to play God with other sentient beings!
This includes developing and/or enforcing legislation which violates the ESA! |
